After a hurricane destroys her home, Lily Jordan is ready for life to get back to normal. That would be easy if her mother’s recent engagement hadn’t landed her in a house along Southeast Texas’ most haunted ghost road. The secluded scenic road is steeped in rich history and legends, but when Lily is given an old diary on her birthday, will she find that those legends hold more for her future than she’s bargained for?

With the help of new friends, Hunter and Owen, and forbidden love, Talon, will she uncover dark secrets from the past and find the key to her own gifts? Is it fate or circumstance that brought Lily to her new home? Normal gives way to the paranormal in book one of the Light Keeper series where mystery and suspense keeps you guessing until the very last page.

~Genres: Young Adult, Paranormal

Unfortunately for Lily Jordan, being a Light Keeper doesn't come with an instruction manual, but neither does being sixteen. While learning to use her powers, she’s confronted with unforeseen obstacles and forced to break her own rules in order to save her circle of friends.

With her mom’s wedding on the horizon, will misinterpreted visions create new enemies who could threaten Lily’s exposure? Will death and heartache ruin the big day? For Lily, the answers only lead to impossible decisions. Does she embrace her powers or abandon them for false normalcy?

Kelly Hall’s second book, The Secret of Strange Waters, proves paranormal powers aren’t always a blessing.

Please share the playlist you listened to while writing The Secret of Strange Waters with us.

I don’t listen to music when I write, but this is a list of songs that inspire me, in no particular order of favoritism.

Down in a Hole- Alice in Chains
No Excuses- Alice in Chains
In the Pines- Nirvana
The Man Who Sold the World- Nirvana
The Chain- Fleetwood Mac
Gold Dust Woman- Fleetwood Mac
I Feel You- Depeche Mode
Enjoy the Silence- Depeche Mode
Bittersweet Symphony- The Verve
Come Undone- Duran Duran
Everlong- Foo Fighters
How I Wish You Were Here- Pink Floyd
Babe, I’m Gonna Leave You- Led Zeppelin

There are tons others, but I could really go on and on so I won’t. :D

 Dream Cast!

If the Light Keeper Saga was made into movies and you could cast anyone you wanted, who would you choose?

Some of the actors are a little older now, but my original dream cast that inspired my character’s descriptions off of are as follows:

(For cast images, nominations and additional info, visit this book's page on!)

Lily Jo Jordan- I always based her looks off of a very young Evangeline Lilly. The dark hair, freckled skin, and little upturned nose, with some killer lime green contacts.

Talon Thomas- Talon’s description wasn’t really based on anyone when I wrote him, but I think Robert Sheehan could pull him off with some dark brown contacts and that gorgeous curly hair of his.

Owen Riley- I have always thought Owen would be perfectly played by Hunter Parrish. He’s gorgeous.

Hunter Riley- Would be perfectly played by Zach Roerig who plays “Matty Blue Eyes” on The Vampire Diaries. He’s handsome and looks like he could be Hunter Parrish’s brother.

Ida “Granny” Riley- I have always seen her in my mind as a cross between two late actresses, Estelle Getty and Jessica Tandy

Cate Jordan- Lily’s mom was inspired from a younger Meg Ryan.Short blonde hair, tiny frame like Lily.

Stephen “Tom” Thomas- I always see him as Dylan McDermott

That is my core cast. Such fun!  I’m glad I got to share it.

What a neat series!  What do you guys think?  Does the dream cast sound like one you'd enjoy?  Do you like any of the music from the playlist?  Let us know in the comments below!
