I normally don't have spoilers in my reviews, but this time, I'm going to have to make an exception. I only got part-way through this book, before I had to put it down, and go take a shower. Once I reached the vivid and graphic description of the main group of people being Satanists, preparing to rape the main character in a Satanic cult ritual on Halloween, I stopped in disgust. Not my kind of book!
I really would have liked some warning that this book had that sort of thing in it, and I never would have picked it up. The description/synopsis should mention something about cults, Satanists, witch-craft, demons, something! Parents need to be aware of that in this series, because it's listed as YA.
The story itself wasn't even that good- the main character is an idiot. She's a vapid, immature girl who was written to blindly miss completely, painfully obvious events and circumstances, in order to propel the story forward. I can not think that any one in real life would be that stupid...
Overall, this book was horrible, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone...

What Will Be...
What Will Be..., by Loralei Maiden

Being a fan of werewolf stories and novels, I was excited to read a book with a female werewolf lead. I was hoping to enjoy it as much as I enjoyed the Nighshade series, by Andrea Cremer. Unfortunately, I didn't care for this book that much.
The lead character, Roxy (which is a name that, I'm sorry, just personally makes me shutter...) seems to be overly conflicted. and not as down-to-earth or as tough as you'd typically hope a werewolf to be. Granted, she's a teen girl, but I was hoping for a little more tough-girl, and a little less drama-queen.
The lead guy was irritating, although he fit the idea/image of a werewolf alpha-to-be. In truth, I'm not really sure why Roxy made the choice she did, because I liked him a whole lot more than the beta-wolf. It seemed like the drama she created, was all in her head, and she ended up going through a whole lot of hardships because of it.
The plot, as a whole, seemed a little shallow, and didn't seem very solid or well-founded. It seemed very much like an emotion-filled daydream of a teen girl, but not realistic or very believable. The last quarter of the book was your typical "keep them guessing til the last line" kind of thing, which was probably my favorite part of the book. It had the most thought and creativity put into it, and while it's not the ending I would have chosen, it's the only thing that kept me from completely regretting reading this book.
Bottom line: it's not my favorite story, and while it's not atrocious, this isn't a book I'll read again. My recommendation would come with hesitancy, and I'd really only recommend to people who love werewolf stories enough to overlook the shaky plot.

I was hoping to enjoy this story, especially considering the main character and I share a first name. Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy this book very much.
The story was alright, but it simply seems like a cheap spin-off of the Twilight series. The plot is predictable and a bit melodramatic. I was disappointed with the lack of originality (Portland, Maine, really??) and now slightly offended that the character has my name...
My main issue with it, is it doesn't seem like it was spell-checked, grammar checked, or edited. The whole book needs serious editing, and there are so many simple mistakes, it's just irritating.
I did finish it though, and want to continue reading the series (it has to get better right?), so I think it balances out to 2 roses.

The second part of this series is needed for the story to continue, but out of the 4 novellas, this is my least favorite. Highly predictable, not edited, and the characters are incredibly annoying.
This seems like a novella (and the whole series, really) for people who didn't like the Twilight series, and want an anti-Twilight plot. The main male character is a jerk, and not someone any self-respecting girl would want to be with. Because of that, and her incredibly irritating personality, Rose simply seems stupid, desperate, and needy. Unlike Bella in the Twilight story, Rose hasn't thought anything through, and she's irritating for more shallow and vacant reasons than Bella.
I'm still leaving it 2 roses, because the ending left me with some hope that the next installment will be better, and I'm still reading the series. I may come to regret that decision...

Ok, so this story is getting better, there's a little more depth and plot behind the cliches. This installment wasn't as bad to read, and while it's not one I'll read again, it's made me no longer regret reading the first two books, as much...
This one also has serious editing issues, although slightly better than the previous two parts of the story. I'd hesitate recommending because you'd have to read the first two novellas, so I'll leave it at 3 roses.

This book killed everything the third installment fixed for me. Just when I had hope from the third book, this one came along and made me cringe.
I can honestly say, this isn't a story I enjoyed reading, and it's not one I'd recommend. Along with all the same editing mistakes (spell-checker, people, come on! Sheesh...) the story became completely cliche, lost all plot originality (even had the running through the woods scene from Twilight), and the ending was not one I enjoyed.
I'm glad it's over...
I'd say overall, if this series was a full novel, it would get 2 roses. The writing was decent, if you ignore the painful lack of editing. With a proper spell-check session, and a good editor, this series would improve a lot for the readers, and would then simply be a well written cliche story.
Forever Yours is not a series I'd be quick to recommend, unless you're just in love with all things vampire, and wouldn't mind a cliche spin-off of Twilight. For me, I enjoy some sort of originality to books, and this really had none at all. Change some names and the car they drive, and you've basically got a mirror-image story of Twilight. If you'd enjoy that, and can get past cringe-worthy lack of editing, then you'd probably like this series.

This is a wonderful story, full of adventure, magic, friendship and courage.
Living in a society full of rules she doesn't believe in, and a family she doesn't fit in with, Amadi struggles to find her own path. Having the courage many people lack, she challenges tradition and expectations, and follows her heart through life-threatening situations and challenges.
Finding out secrets and lies in her past, Amadi sets out to right wrongs and do what she believes is right, even if it means she loses everything she cares about.
Meeting many unexpected friends, and running from a creature more fitting in a nightmare than reality, she finds adventure, love, and herself. The friendships she forms keep her strong, and she becomes a hero in her own heart.
This is a story sure to warm any heart, and fill any imagination to the brim. The Arabian culture and desert background of this adventure are written with fantastic details, and present a new kind of story. All of the characters are deep and interesting, and they all grow and change in some way, by the end of the series.
I took off a rose, because it had a bit of a slow start, and took a while to catch my interest. After the story picked up, I was hardly able to stop reading! It has a perfect ending, and the trilogy as a whole is wonderful. I would certainly recommend reading this series.

In all honesty, sci-fi is a genre I enjoy, but haven't gotten into much, and space-y books are always a question mark for me. The synopsis of this book caught my attention though, so I thought I'd give it a try.
The beginning was interesting, taking a look at Kaila's family and life, and she seemed pretty relatable. With the exception, of course, of her tin foil head-covering and blonde wig...
Her first few meetings with the aliens, masquerading as High School students, was quite humorous, and had me laughing at several points. The descriptions of them fit most of the sci-fi standards for humanoid-looking aliens, which was nice. As Kaila finds out more about herself, her family, and her past, things become much more complicated, and less humorous. Ominous and scary events and plans unfold, and take the story on an exciting ride.
I liked this book overall. The characters were really different, and I enjoyed all the plot turns in the story. The story was well written and easy to follow. The author did a wonderful job of describing the surreal elements of the story, carrying the reader though an exciting adventure.
I took away two roses because of some plot points I personally didn't care for (no spoilers here, folks), and through part of the book, it did get somewhat confusing. I would still recommend this book though, especially if you're a fan of alien stories, and, even if you're usually not, this one may surprise you :)

~My Review~
In all honesty, sci-fi is a genre I enjoy, but haven't gotten into much, and space-y books are always a question mark for me. The synopsis of this book caught my attention though, so I thought I'd give it a try.
The beginning was interesting, taking a look at Kaila's family and life, and she seemed pretty relatable. With the exception, of course, of her tin foil head-covering and blonde wig...
Her first few meetings with the aliens, masquerading as High School students, was quite humorous, and had me laughing at several points. The descriptions of them fit most of the sci-fi standards for humanoid-looking aliens, which was nice. As Kaila finds out more about herself, her family, and her past, things become much more complicated, and less humorous. Ominous and scary events and plans unfold, and take the story on an exciting ride.
I liked this book overall. The characters were really different, and I enjoyed all the plot turns in the story. The story was well written and easy to follow. The author did a wonderful job of describing the surreal elements of the story, carrying the reader though an exciting adventure.
I took away two roses because of some plot points I personally didn't care for (no spoilers here, folks), and through part of the book, it did get somewhat confusing. I would still recommend this book though, especially if you're a fan of alien stories, and, even if you're usually not, this one may surprise you :)
